Sustainability
Tomen and Co – Sustainability In Action
Tomen and Co combines the worlds of design without distraction and sustainability, delivering products that meet your demands and Mother Nature’s.
Striking a balance between great design and being sustainable is a key part of the Tomen and Co brand. We do sustainability by default; it’s not an added piece of the puzzle, it’s the foundation; how do we achieve this... ?
Responsible Materials
At Tomen and Co, we know that using the right materials sourced using proper methods is the key to making sure we strike that balance of great design and sustainability.
FSC-Certified Paper
We use FSC-certified paper, meaning the wood to make the paper is sourced from responsibly managed forests. Making sure that Tomen and Co don’t contribute to habit/eco-system loss, but rather promote it to grow and re-establish.
Biodegradable Fibres
Because we use natural materials it means our journals and notebooks can be biodegradable. Ensuring that we do not add to the problem, rather we shall be a part of the solution.
Natural Textiles
At Tomen and Co we use natural textiles, so we stay connected to the components of our products, provided by the world around us. Bridging that gap between your demands and Mother Nature’s.
rPET Covers
Plastic pollution is a constant crisis in today's world, and we at Tomen and Co are conscious not to fuel this crisis further. That's why we use rPET covers for our products, recycling that plastic away from the landfill.
What is rPET? It's a type of plastic that is comprised of repurposed, reproduced and recycled plastic products. The plastic in its former state is washed, shredded and melted back down to resemble its former state. Using this material in the production of our products helps to close the loop and the negative result of plastic pollution.
Craftsmanship that lasts
Through our focus on enduring quality, at Tomen and Co ensure that our products are relevant every day.
We understand that being sustainable doesn't just mean being responsible with the use of our materials; it means crafting products that last. The use of traditional cotton sewn bindings helps our products to survive for a long time and undergo constant use. This bookbinding technique does not simply permit a high-quality finish; it significantly helps the binding to stay intact.
The devil is in the details. Using hand-finished details means that our products not only stand out from the mass-produced crowd but also survive wear and tear, as the finer things are that much harder to corrupt.
Throughout the design stage of our products, sustainability was a primary focus. We want our customers to be able to use our products for as long and as often as possible. This means that when the manufacturing stage approached, we had to have designs ready that would lead to lasting results.
Thoughtful packaging
Tomen and Co.’s approach to sustainability doesn’t end with the creation of our products; we have worked hard to ensure that the packaging also adheres to our high standards. What does this mean?
We use 100% recyclable or biodegradable packaging, meaning that when you pick up our products, you can do so with the reassurance that you and we are not contributing to the damaging trend of packaging that ends up in landfills.
Not to worry, there is certainly little of it. Tomen and Co ensure that little packing is required, so whilst your product is protected, there is no unnecessary waste.
The purpose of our packaging is simply to protect the product and reduce waste. Nothing too fancy, nothing too flashy.
